Often, I see comrades of Jaramogi Odinga Oginga University of Science and Technology (aka JOOUST) asking for a definite procedure on how to defer their studies or take academic leave.

Significantly, there is one step to eventually discontinue your studies as provided by the campus rules. That acknowledges that you have to fill out a “Deferment Form” and present the copy back to the Campuses’ relevant office.

1. Get the Deferment Form from Admission Office

2. Fill out the Deferment Form
Secondly, take the Form with you and fill it out keenly in that you ask about ambiguous aspects to you.

Within the deferment form, you will be expected to fill the following correctly.
- Admission Number
- School and Department of Studies
- Year of Study
- Deferring from (year) to (year) for one or two academic year/s
- And of course date.
- Finally reason for deferring (be specific and strong. Don’t let anyone see you cry in the form. List less than 5 reasons, 3 is ideal for me.) For that, arouse empathy for your situation.
3. Submit the form to the Registry Office – defer studies JOOUST
It is here, at the Registry Office, where you will seek help in case you are unfamiliar with how to fill the form.
Nevertheless, remember those guys don’t entertain nonsense (hope am not sounding rude either Bossy).
(But live a lady there that always wake up on the wrong side, she told me that too much explanation render her with a headache. She must be a Luo.)
(Just ensure you avoid her because she is not a happy lady (a bit of light skin).
Eventually, take a pic of your Deferment Form and make sure they insert the form into the file. That will limit the instances where you defer and your deferment form is missing trace when necessary.
(When you will be reporting back.)
Once the form is inserted as you evident, they will show you to depart home and that they will handle the pending tasks of presenting it to the Dean Of Students.

At this point, you are done with how to defer studies in JOOUST. Right, and because you must report back be it by the end of the (one academic year) you suggested in your Deferment form.

The process to follow after deferment
In this last section, you’ll get a straightforward path to notify the campus that you have finally resumed your studies.
As opposed to when you collect a Deferment Form when resuming studies, you have got to compose a letter to the Registrar of Academic Affairs (R.A.A) JOOUST.
Moreover, just like other letters, the Resume letter should be simple and direct to the issue addressed in particular.
Again, instead of waiting for studies to commence and initiate follow-ups, you should present the letter to the Registry Office earlier enough.
The letter should inform Registrar of Academic Affairs about your report-back and that you have started your studies.
And, since the letter will pass the Dean of Students for a stamp, it may take nearly two weeks to return to the Registry’s Office.

On the other hand, you should be checking the letter and once it appears back in the Registry Office.

Take the file to the Admission Office and call for the portal update. Unlike if you didn’t follow my process (nothing like correctly and incorrectly) your trouble starts here.
